Of course brand photography means that you have more professional images to share but actually, what you end up with is so much more than that. The clue is in the title. What you really end up with, is a brand
And it’s not just about the visual. Because your brand isn’t just about images, it’s about everything you stand for; what your business represents, who you work with, what your values are, and most importantly, the experience you give your customers.
Whilst you wouldn’t necessarily think those things can be represented in visual format, they absolutely can. There’s a very good reason that the saying ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ is still so prominent, and brand photography is a great example of that.
If your brand photography is done well, it can transport your potential customers by giving them an image that makes them want to jump in and experience everything you have to offer.
It’s actually quite powerful and it’s exactly what every business needs.
Of course, I would say that. I’m a brand photographer but that also means I know what I’m talking about. I’ve worked with countless brands over the years so I know the impact great brand photography can have on your business.
So, beyond great images, what are the other benefits of having professional brand photography?
First impressions count
Let’s start with the most obvious. You will attract far more attention to your business if you have professional images attached to it. Your customers can spot an iPhone selfie a mile off and whilst they are ok in the early days, your photography should really grow with your business.
Builds trust and credibility
Your brand photography sets the tone for your customers. The better your images, the more trust you will gain. There’s a reason all the big brands have regular photo shoots. Whilst I’m absolutely not encouraging you to spend thousands on brand photography, sometimes it’s worth making a relatively small investment for a potentially big return.
Images are everything these days. We live in a world where Instagram and Pinterest are a huge part of people’s lives. It’s the stand out images that attract the attention and gain followers so give your customers something to trust in.
It shows the heart of the business
Many business owners will use stock images for their promotional material and it literally breaks my heart. Because it’s people who are at the heart of the business yet so many shy away from the camera.
If your business is filled with people (or even more so if it’s just you), it’s good to show your potential customers who you are.
Let them see the people (person) behind the business. Give them a little insight into what makes you tick. Trust me, they will love it!
Brand images are a long term investment
I could go on about all the benefits but I want to talk about how to use your brand photography so I’ll just end with this.
Good brand photography isn’t just a now investment, it’s a future investment too.
Once you have the images, they are there to be used over and over again. With different content, different platforms, different stories attached, the possibilities are endless.
In fact, I personally update my brand photography every year or so.
Which leads me nicely to…

How can you get the most from your brand photography?
Again, this seems like an obvious question. Surely, you use the images for your website and social media? Yes, of course but there’s so many more opportunities than that.
I’m not going to talk about websites because that’s the obvious one. If you have great brand photography, it stands to reason it should be plastered all over your website. I mean, why wouldn’t you?
Social media
Social media is a fantastic opportunity and because your images will be so versatile, they can be used over and over again.
You can use one image on Facebook with one piece of content and the same image could represent a completely different piece of content on LinkedIn.
In effect, one image could give you countless amounts of content for you to share with your followers, and given that each platform attracts a different audience, you don’t really risk over sharing!
Advertising
Brand photography is a great way to advertise your business. Whether you are focussing on social media adverts or printed ads, they are a great way to attract your chosen audience.
Email marketing
Say, what now? Please tell me you have a mailing list? Well, hey if you don’t, now is your chance to start one and with some nice new shiny professional images, you’ll be smashing it out of the park in no time!
Print materials
I know this sounds a bit old school but print materials still exist and are still relevant. Great brand photographs can be used in leaflets or flyers, posters and banners and even business cards – here’s mine 😉
Got an exhibition coming up? Fabulous! Now you have the most amazing images to show off!
Packaging
If you have a product-based business, these images are ideal to use in your packaging materials. Unboxing is an incredibly popular social media trend so encourage your customers to unbox live on their platforms and make sure your packaging stands out in a huge online crowd!
You can even use branded photographs on labels and tags. How personalised would that feel to your customer?
Corporate identity
Brand photography is perfect for corporate documents. Whether it’s an employee handbook or training materials, how amazing would it be to have fully branded images to showcase your fabulous company?
And the list goes on. Presentational slides, internal communications, external communications such as invoices, press releases, media kits, client proposals, client reports, I could literally go on for days!
But I won’t. I’ll stop there!
In summary
Brand photography can significantly enhance your brand’s visibility, consistency, and overall appeal, contributing to a stronger and more trustworthy brand identity.
What I’m trying to say is that brand photography can open up so many opportunities for your business and in truth, it’s an investment that you really can’t afford to miss.
